RIYADH: Quality control (QC) has entered all fields in the Kingdom, including government and private sector companies, to improve their performance and make them error-free institutions, an expert has said.

“Errors in all fields existed for a long time, which prompted the devising of ways to help increase productivity and reduce errors while ensuring improvement with reduced costs at all the establishments,” Nagwa Mousa, a quality consultant and a medical expert, told Arab News. One of the striking examples of institutions subjected to QC inspections is the heath sector, whether government or private facilities, to see if they are complying with regulations and set standards, she said.

Kingdom-wide inspection tours by teams from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and their crackdown on those engaged in malpractices such as producing counterfeit and fake goods is yet another area of application of QC standards, said Mousa.

Meanwhile, quality management teams at the Ministry of Education plan to hold a series of workshops for members of quality sections in different departments and offices of the Department of Education in Riyadh region soon. The workshops aim to explain management mechanisms that contribute to raising the quality of administrative services, and meeting the needs and expectations of beneficiary units.

The Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Interior recently organized workshops on how to apply quality control measures in developing and improving the performance of facilities and their ability to grow and compete.
