JEDDAH: The vehicular traffic scenario is getting from bad to worse despite regular campaigns on traffic awareness. This is evident from the fact that three cities of Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah registered 965,000 traffic violations in the month of February itself.

However, almost 50 percent of the violations had to be rejected by Tahkum, previously known as Saher, for reasons such as unclear number plates and blocked vision of the vehicle.

According to the automated monitoring system report, Tahkum, 476,109 violations were rejected in the three cities, mostly because of unclear number plates, that is 44 percent, local media reported, citing the Tahkum report.

The other reasons for not being able to take action included blocked vision of the vehicle by another body, distance between cars, low head lights, bright headlights and lack of indication.

Of the total number of violations, that is 965,066, Jeddah had the lion’s share with 414,394 violations, of which 184,496 were rejected because of various reasons.
