RIYADH: The Saudi Embassy in Turkey has stepped up efforts to find the children of a former Daesh member who was reportedly killed in Syria, and have them returned safely to the Kingdom.

On Nov. 1, 2014, Rima Al-Jureish announced on social media that she had arrived in Syria accompanied by her four children — Maraya 14, Abdulaziz 13, Sarah eight, and Amar six. Her older son Muath had reportedly already arrived in the country.

According to reports, Al-Jureish was killed recently during an air raid on Al-Shadadi city in Al-Hasakah province in Syria.

Saudi Ambassador to Turkey Adel Mirdad said the Saudi embassy wants the children taken from the conflict area and returned home.

He said the children had been manipulated by their parents to travel to Syria.

Al-Jureish had been involved in protests in the Al-Qassim to have her husband released from prison after he was sentenced in 2004 to storing illegal weapons in the garden of his house.

She had also called for the release of a women named “Lady of Al-Qaeda” who had been sentenced to 15 years in prison on terrorism related charges.
