JEDDAH: A number of Saudi scholarship students in Corvallis, Oregon, have established a scientific society called “Curiosity Club.” The aim is to develop professional competencies and to discuss human knowledge and topics related to natural science.

The idea was suggested by a scholarship student, Waseem Al-Saeed, with some colleagues. Together with other interested people, they established the club in order to exchange scientific and cognitive knowledge more accurately and professionally with each in his field of specialty benefiting from others’ experiences.

The core idea of the club is that each member share their knowledge and they all discuss what has been shared.

Husain Zaidudeen, a student, commended the initiative that will benefit all the members. “The investment of scholarships students in this program represents an opportunity and a chance for them to develop their skill and personalities and harness their scientific capabilities,” he was quoted as saying in a local newspaper.

Another student, Islam Al-Mussali, hoped that the club would be a haven for those seeking to satisfy their curiosity in different sciences. “I hope all members of the club will increase their knowledge by participating in discussion of the topics and by exchanging their knowledge and experience,” he said.

Hassan Al-Nataa, one of the founding members of the club, said he and a number of his colleagues have worked to define the club and stating its objectives and programs and translating them into reality.

Mustafa Shehab, another student, described the idea of the club as “great” since it disseminates knowledge and culture and stimulates social relations among students.
