A technical problem at King Khaled International Airport disrupted domestic flights flying in and out of the capital on Saturday night.
A Saudi Arabian Airlines official said in a statement that a technical glitch in Saudi Telecom’s main exchange station led to the halt of flights at the airport.
“The technical problem occurred at 8:26 p.m. on Saturday. The exchange belongs to the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and feeds all operational devices at the airport,” an official statement issued by Saudi Airlines said.
The airline was able to resume flights within four hours.
When Arab News visited the airport Sunday afternoon, flights were operating on schedule.
A Saudi Arabian Airlines official also confirmed that flights are back to normal.
Airport authorities said the technical fault affected only the domestic sector, while the Saudi Arabian Airlines international and foreign airlines sections functioned without any disruptions.
