The Saudi Wildlife Authority (SWA) has condemned the killing of animals inside wildlife sanctuaries in the Kingdom.

A recent video clip and photos on social networking sites showed some poachers killing animals that have been classified as endangered species.

One of the postings showed a slaughtered mountain goat, which is a protected animal facing extinction.

The clips showed the killing of hyraxes and hares.

“The SWA condemns such abominable deeds which indicate the savagery of the perpetrators,” it said. “The act is a violation of the teachings of our religion and the laws enacted by the Kingdom for the preservation of the wildlife.”

Prince Bandar bin Saud, president of the SWA, appealed to all people to take a firm stand against those who deplete wildlife resources thereby endangering the ecological balance.

The prince also appealed to the citizens to rally around the government departments concerned to bring the perpetrators to justice.
