RIYADH: The University of Dammam has announced the opening of admissions and registration electronically of Syrian students coming to the Kingdom on a visit visa.

Dean of Admissions and Registration Affairs M. Saif Al-Saif said that eligible and qualified Syrian students may apply for admission through the university website during the period from 15/5/1437 to 29/5/1437.

Al-Saif added that the admission of Syrian students is in due consideration of their said plight in their own country where war is currently going on.

Al-Saif added that the nomination for admission will depend on the availability of slots and in accordance with the quota issued by the Ministry of Education.

He added that nominated candidates will complete all procedures electronically and their applications will be approved after complying with all the requirements and providing all information needed within the required time.

He said that after the completion of nomination procedures electronically, the applicants will be asked to wait until the Ministry of Education approves their admission to the university.

Al-Saif added that the students will be referred to the different faculties based on the results of their secondary school certificates and the available seats, with the exception of health colleges.

Earlier, the Saudi government also allocated 3,000 scholarships for Syrian students in various public academic institutions of higher education in the Kingdom.

The scholarships, granted under the directive of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman, are renewable.

“If there’s a need and after it has been brought to the attention of the scholarship standing committee, the scholarships may be renewed,” an MoE statement said.
