Young people attending a youth forum here discussed health, social and work issues affecting their lives.

The two-day event, entitled "Our Youth" and held under the aegis of Makkah Gov. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, began yesterday. It is being held for the third time in cooperation with Jeddah Comedy Club and TEDx Arabia.

Rayyan Samman, chairman of the youth council in Makkah region, thanked Prince Khaled for supporting youth activities. He also thanked Abdulaziz Khudairy, the deputy governor of Makkah, and Hisham Al-Faleh, deputy of the governor's office for development affairs.

Samman said that the aim of the youth council was to build a human rights culture and develop the city's young people.

Lama Al-Ghalib, executive director of the forum, said the youth can empower themselves through education. She said the forum would also be held in Taif, Qunfudah, Rabigh, Makkah and Laith.

She thanked volunteers for helping set up the event. "We are proud of our youth and a number of volunteers who worked at the forum as a team. I hope our youth will benefit from the forum's message,” she said.
