Saudi youth joined hands with Max Media and other charitable organizations, local hospitals and shopping malls to participate in a campaign to bring joy to the lives of underprivileged residents in Jeddah.
The 10-day campaign commenced on July 24, where volunteers hosted awareness discussions with youth on the importance of kindness, communicating respectfully with others and extending a helping hand to the less fortunate.
Khalid Al-Mudrasi, executive director of Max Media, explained that the aim of the campaign is to instill a sense of social responsibility toward others. He added that they choose to launch the campaign during Ramadan since the holy month is a time in which Muslims try to enhance their good deeds.
“We would like to remind people about the benefits and virtues of being kind and tolerant in dealing with other people. It seems that as a society, we have strayed from these values,” Al-Mudrasi said.
He explained that this campaign entails raising awareness about the meaning of good deeds and the importance of humility.
“We invite everyone who wants to participate in this campaign to be kind when speaking, dealing, seeing and mingling with others; this is, after all, what our religion preaches,” he added.
He further said this campaign targets the elderly and the disabled, orphans, needy families and poor workers.
“This is everyone’s social responsibility. We will try to continue this campaign throughout the entire year and request fellow citizens and residents to visit orphanages and care homes for the elderly once in a while, as well as charitable organizations, places for disabled people and hospitals, to give them hope and engage in acts of kindness,” he urged.
