JEDDAH: Habagat stood out on a low-scoring night for back-to-back Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the 16th week in the 16th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City here.
None of the teams passed the 30-point barrier and Habagat’s 29 proved good enough for Manny Tibay’s team to get a double for the second straight week.
Salam Rice and league leader Al Murjana tied on 27 points with AL Striker three points further back on 24.
Sponsor team Sarawat Superstores tallied 19 points in fifth place on the night while Jem Striker and Al Kabeer posted 18 and 13 points respectively. D’ Barkads and Casadores were the tailenders on 12 and 11.
Habagat pulled it off despite a so-so third game for 4 points with Rommel Cagampang setting up a double on 642 on lines of 227, 212 and 203.
Rene Punzalan and Wilson Triguero did full games for Habagat on 578 and 564, while chipping in with two games each were Edu Toledo 206-173, Med Ramos 250-235 and Geo Mangaliman 173-167.
Salam Rice had four players crossing 500 namely Jimmy Mandigiado 635, Ed Butardo 624, Carl Constantino 602 and Jess Pineda 549. Sharing the remaining three games were Andy Yumena 248-205 and Jayson Castillo 158.
The trio of Mhon Laxamana, Rene Ocampo and Jay Bengco led Murjana on 610, 587 and 566 while three others, Nap Patayan, Pancho Cuevas and Faisal Relativo had two games of 213-211, 216-204 and 216-181.
Over at AL Striker the main man as Mohd. Sulaiman who drilled the second highest score of 640 to go with the 608 by Jack Jarin, 585 by Bonnie Garcia, 505 by Cesar Monares, 167-223 by Gerry Lim and 202 by Tommy Kamal.
Sarawat team captain led from the front on 620 followed by Paul Antiporda 590, Tash Haitam 588, Jay-R de Dios 565 and Gerry Mandanas 553 in a five-man team rotation.
