JEDDAH: Habagat basked in the glory of a perfect double in the first session back after the Ramadan holiday for the Thursday League 16th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City here.
Barely skipping a beat, Habagat notched the league’s first perfect score of 36 points on the way to its second Team of the Week award in the five-man team Thursday night league event.
Rene Punzalan made it a perfect double to remember when he rolled the high series of 812 on lines of 258, 257 and 264 to become the Bowler of the Week.
Also, the imperious display had Habagat knocking Al Kabeer Frozen Foods out of third place in the team standings.
Unheralded Salam Rice continued its revival to pick up 30 points, six adrift of Habagat, as it moved up a notch to sixth in the standings.
D’ Barkads tallied 27.5 points in third place on the night with runaway leader Al Murajana on 21.5. Casadores and Al Kabeer tied on 18 points. The last three teams for this 15th session were Jem Striker 12, Sarawat Superstores 11 and AL Strikers.
Geo Mangaliman and Rommel Cagampang hit 616 and 612 to back up Punzalan, as Habagat swept the first-place points of 9 in all three games and overall output.
Wilson Triguero carded 194-178, Med Ramos 181-184 and team manager Manny Tibay 161-174 for Habagat which won its first award on the sixth week.
Salam Rice built its total from a six-man rotation led by Jess Pineda who fired 623 to go with the 621 by Andy Yumena, 612 by Melo Dianco, 595 by Atoi Cruz, 169-225 by Ed Butardo and 177 by Carl Constantino.
At D’ Barkads, a pair of 640s came from Ed Sardiña and James Galvan. Joel Nidoy and William Virgo added 571 and 565 while Leo Edejer contributed 180-185 and Romy Bunagan 188.
Mhon Laxamana and Frank Afurong led Murjana on 647 and 621.
Casadores came good with a single set of five players namely Nezar Al Hamwe 630, Ding dela Rosa 613, Ruben Grino 572, Fadi Al Hadad 549 and Nawaf del Monte 528.
Rommel Agbayani was a few pins short of 600 in leading Al Kabeer on 593 with Hairul Malay on 562 and Jowett Carrion 550. With two games each were Archie Santos 100-181, Bandr Al Dosarry 191-200 and Rally zamora 190-171.
