Sadip won the centerpiece Inter-Company A division title beating Bitumat 83-81 in the championship match in the Mobily & Globe Cup 2012 Basketball Tournament before a jampacked crowd at Sadip Sports Center in Second Industrial City on the outskirts of Dammam.

Uragon’z and Warboh also claimed championships after downing Hempacore 67-53 and Bawan Wood 82-73 respectively in the Inter-Company B and Developmental Open League divisions.

Joel Dongog top-scored with 26, Timothy Anora added 19, Nerie Napoles 14 and Jerome Vasquez 10 as the host team grabbed momentum from Bitumat, which had controlled the second and third quarters, in the fourth period and held on to victory.

With 18.1 seconds left and the score tied at 81, Anora intercepted a Jovy Tambio pass intended for Niel Aclan and scooted home for a basket that gave Sadip an 83-81 lead, time down t to 6.8 seconds.

Bitumat inbounded the ball and Aclan missed a desperation three-pointer as the final buzzer sounded.

The first quarter ended 20-all as both teams displayed intensity on both ends of the court. Bitumat then took command taking a 36-32 lead in the second quarter and 68-63 spread in the third quarter.

In the last quarter the momentum shifted to coach Mario Sta. Maria’s Sadip which went on a 4-0 tear to start the period courtesy of Dongog and Napoles.

But Jhun Abrillo drained a shot from the rainbow territory that tied the score at 70 after a long chase by Bitumat. Time was down to 5 minutes and 41 seconds when Bitumat coach Domic Salas called for a ceasefire.

The game tossed back and forth from there.

The Uragon’z of coach Joven Buemia were well in control of the game against Hempacore coached by Ely Panahon as the duo of Jeff babay and Fracas scored 27 and 18 points.

Jomarie Balopinos led Hempacore with 16 points.

The shorthanded Bawan Wood of coach Richell Rosasena was simply no match for the Warboh boys of team managers Dong Tesio and Nonoy Porlares and head coach Bunso Vinas.

The victory gave Warboh a sweep of the best-of-three championship series.

Rosasena apologized to his supporters for the defeat, citing the absence of most of his wards vacationing in the Philippines hit them hard.

The Warboh coaching staff thanked its fans for the untiring support to the team.

This four months long league was organized by the Pilipino Basketball Association with support from major sponsors Mobily and Globe through Rannie Basanta and co-sponsors are Kabayan Resturant, Bangos Restaurant, Nestle Mineral Water and Sadip Company.

The PBA thanked the Basketball Referees Association of Dammam (BRAD) for a job well done.

Meantime, the PBA announced it is now deep in preparation for a much bigger event, the Kingdom Dream Games 2013, to start Feb. 15 at Al Nahda Sports Club.
