Nestlé Middle East’s in-house nutritionist Joumana Dabbagh sheds light on the healthiest way to break your fast this Ramadan.

  1. Follow tradition
    Follow tradition

    Start by eating two to three dates, especially if you suffer from a headaches or dizziness due to low blood sugar levels during the fasting period.

  2. Quench your thirst
    Quench your thirst

    Make sure you drink water, healthy juices or yogurt before you start eating. This will prevent dehydration and provide your body with essential fluids.

  3. Prepare your stomach
    Prepare your stomach

    Have a bowl of soup, an indispensable dish since it prepares the stomach to receive the rest of the meal and helps replenish some of the body fluids lost during the day.

  4. Go green
    Go green

    Eat a salad because it is rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. The more colorful your salad, the better.

  5. Balance your mains
    Balance your mains

    The main dish should contain a source of carbohydrates like rice, pasta, potatoes or burghul, as well as some form of protein, in addition to cooked vegetables.

  6. Get a healthy sweet fix
    Get a healthy sweet fix

    Instead of sugar-rich desserts, go for hydrating fruits with natural sugar content like watermelon and berries. These will help replenish the water levels in your body.
