TRIVANDRUM: Police in the southern Indian state of Kerala have arrested a techie for killing his Texas-based father who was on vacation.
They said Sherin John, 36, shot dead his father Joy V John, 69, a US citizen, in a car last week following a quarrel over money.
The body was cut into six and left in different parts of the region.
On Monday, he admitted to having killed his father and disposed of his body parts in gunny bags. He showed the police the places where he dumped them.
The torso was recovered from a pile of garbage at Velur and head from another location near a factory in Kottayam. The divers are continuing their search for other limbs in the river near Mangalam bridge.
The son, a software engineer working at Technopark here, was under detention since Saturday morning after the police picked him up from a hotel in Kottayam.
He was reported missing along with his father and the police got a clue from a call to his mother in the US telling he had “committed a mistake.”
He also shot pictures of the body on his mobile before attempting to burn the body in the godown using petrol he bought on the way.
The attempt failed as he suspected it attracted the attention of people, but pieces of flesh and burnt clothes were left there.
Then he cut it into pieces and took to different places. He cleaned the car and kept it in a service center.
The father reached his ancestral house a week ago and was living with the son. The local people alerted the police Saturday morning as they grew suspicious.
