In a fresh controversy within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), senior BJP leader, Murli Manohar Joshi, on Sunday refused to accept that there was any Modi wave — a reference to Narendra Modi, the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP. “There is only a BJP wave,” he said.

“Modi is a representative of the BJP as its prime ministerial candidate. He gets support from the party and its leaders across the country,” Joshi told the media here when asked if there was a wave in favor of Modi.

Joshi said the Gujarat model would not be implemented as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) model if the BJP-led NDA wins the Lok Sabha election.

Joshi said the decision to deny ticket to former BJP leader Jaswant Singh from Barmer constituency was not a collective one.

“The decision ... did not come for the discussion,” said Joshi, adding, the matter could have been handled differently.
