JEDDAH, 29 May — It was a refreshing change for Jeddah Governor Prince Misha’al when he toured a media and financial exhibition after inaugurating it at the Jeddah International Exhibition and Convention Center last night. He was visibly impressed to see the layout of an exhibition with a different flavor.

It was not the usual harsh wall of exhibits on entering the main hall. Instead what has been created is a garden at the center. Sand, grass, steel bars, water and trees are all there. Many tons of sand and 400-sq m area of grass have transformed the central area into a relaxing garden with trees more than three meters high.

Suspended in a specially constructed steel frame designed by the organizers, Al-Harithy Co. for Exhibition (ACE) above the circular cafeteria counter, eight TV monitors, connected to the Internet and operated by Bloomberg, display up to the minute global financial information.

The prince went around the various stands, with two shows breaking new ground. Brought together are the world’s advertising and marketing and banking and investment in a professional and business atmosphere.

The staging of the first Saudi banking and investment exhibition and symposium concurrently with the media show is aimed at laying the foundations for successful promotion and creation of new partnerships. Participants include over 100 companies from within the Kingdom and abroad.
