JEDDAH, 13 July — The Swatch festival came to an end last night, producing many winners around Saudi Arabia during its six-week duration.
The festival’s last of six draws was held at the concluding ceremony at Al Mahmal Center, Balad, in which three persons won roundtrip air tickets, taking the total number of such winners to 18. There were three winners for air tickets each week. Winners have been given the option of traveling to the destination of their choice through the cosponsoring airlines, which include Saudi Arabian Airlines.
Some such winners have decided to go to London, Washington, Cairo, Casablanca and Manila, while others are yet to decide their destinations, company executives said.
The Kingdomwide festival was marked by draws held at Swatch showrooms in Riyadh, Jeddah and Alkhobar, which were transmitted live on MBC FM Radio Station.
Aside from air tickets, hundreds of winners were gifted Swatch watches during the festival. Summing up the 2001 Swatch festival, Saleh Alzouman, chief executive officer of Alzouman General Trading Co., said this year’s festival was a ‘grand success’ and brought the public further close to the reputed watches of the Swiss manufacturer.
The company is one of the leading Swatch partners with more than 30 strategically located outlets, including the showroom at Al Faisaliya Center, Riyadh, described as the biggest Swatch showroom in the Gulf. It has five megastores in London, Milan, Paris, New York and Geneva, and other 500 stores worldwide specified with their ‘unique modern’ styles.
Recently, Swatch launched simultaneously in the Kingdom and France its Skin Chrono, the thinnest watch the world has ever seen. “The 6.6 mm thin Chronograph is at the forefront of technical achievement and contemporary design,” he said.
