RIYADH, 15 August — An archaeological site with rock inscriptions dating back 15,000 years has been found in Hail, 640 km northwest of Riyadh, it was announced here yesterday. “These inscriptions are first of its kind to be found in the Arabian Peninsula and are similar to those found in African deserts,” Dr. Saad Al-Rashed, deputy minister  for antiquities and museums at the Education Ministry, told a press conference. He said a team of experts discovered the site in a remote and rugged area in Shuwaimes in the Hail region.
