RIYADH, 18 August — Saudi Telecom Company announced yesterday that it was slashing charges for inter-city telephone calls by up to 23 percent as part of a regular reappraisal of telephone tariffs in the country in tune with new developments in international telecom market.
A press statement issued by the STC said the charge for calls using ordinary phones to a distance of between 200 km and 500 km would be cut from 90 to 70 halalas per minute. The tariff for calls exceeding 500 km is now SR1 instead of SR1.3.
“The new reduction in telephone charges comes in the framework of the company’s policy of regularly revising all charges for its various services,” said Khaled ibn Abdullah Al-Molhem, STC’s chairman.
