JEDDAH, 29 August — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd yesterday urged the Arab media to play a more significant role in highlighting the Palestinian cause and mobilizing world opinion in favor of the Palestinians.

King Fahd made this comment while receiving a delegation of Arab information ministers led by Lebanon’s Ghazi Al-Areedi. The delegation presented an Arab media plan to counter Israeli misinformation.

Addressing the delegation, the Saudi leader expressed his hope that the Arab media committee would succeed in projecting the true and hopeless situation of Palestinians to the world.

“Your mission is very important as it is essential in combating incorrect Western ideas,” the king said.

Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, who also received the delegation, condemned Israel’s terrorist acts against the Palestinians.

“Security and stability will not prevail in the Middle East region as long as Israel continues its military campaign against unarmed Palestinians,” he said.

“Israel is carrying out terrorism using advanced weaponry, trying to eradicate the Palestinian people, and is assassinating their leaders,” the crown prince said.

The delegation comprised Jordanian Information Minister Saleh Al-Qallab, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, Arab League commissioner for information affairs, Syrian Information Minister Adnan Amran, UAE Information Minister Sheikh Abdullah ibn Zayed Al-Nahayan, and Kuwaiti Information Minister Sheikh Ahmad Fahd Al-Sabah.
