JEDDAH, 2 September — Coinciding with the commencement of the academic year after a long summer break, the new season for major trade exhibitions begins with the opening of computer and health care shows in Jeddah later this month.
Mobile phones, described as the greatest phenomenon in the ongoing communications revolution, are expected to steal the Compu.Net show being organized at the Jeddah International Exhibitions and Convention Center from Sept. 13 to 18. The biennial Saudi Health Care will follow from Sept. 26 to 30.
Compu.Net is an international event for computing, computer shopper, the Internet, office equipment and accessories, according to the organizers, Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE). Also incorporating the show is LIVE — the Kingdom’s fourth international event for audiovisual, electronic and photographic equipment, and consumer appliances.
“The exhibition assumes importance in the context that the Internet is now well established in the Kingdom and mobile communications continue to expand,” an ACE official told Arab News yesterday. “CommTel and Compu.Net bring all the latest developments in this hi-tech digital world to your doorstep,” he added.
The twin event will also showcase a computer shopper section.
The Saudi Health Care will be the 11th anniversary edition of the Kingdom’s international medical, insurance, dental, pharmaceutical, scientific equipment and labware exhibition combined with a series of symposiums.
Austria will be among many leading countries to have their official pavilions at the show.
Three other major international events that follow include an international trade fare incorporating a franchise pavilion with Fashion Arabia from Oct. 8 to 12; and the 23rd annual Jeddah international motor show from Oct. 21 to 26. The last event of the year will be the 2nd annual international book fair from Nov. 21 to 30.
