RIYADH, 2 October - Asian Age Editor-in-Chief M.J. Akbar will be the chief guest at the Sir Syed Day celebrations being organized by the local chapter of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) at Riyadh Palace Hotel on Oct. 18. Indian Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad will preside.
Chapter President A.A. Siddiqui told reporters yesterday that Delhi State Transport Minister Parvez Hashmi and Safdar H. Khan, general manager of the International Trade Promotion Organization of India and president of the Delhi-based AMUOBA, have been invited as guests of honor.
Akbar, who had a brief stint as a parliamentarian from the eastern state of Bihar, will be the keynote speaker. He will perform Umrah before proceeding to London. The chapter will publish 1,000 copies of a comprehensive souvenir-cum-directory to mark the occasion.
