SAN DIEGO, California, 11 October — Yazid Al-Salimi, a Saudi national detained in the United States for suspected involvement in the hijacking of the American Airlines Flight 77 which crashed on to the Pentagon on Sept. 11, was released here yesterday.
FBI officials picked up Al-Salimi, along with a Jordanian and a Somali, three weeks ago and was kept in detention as material witnesses. They were released for want of evidence.
The FBI released this week four other Saudis detained in connection with investigation into the terrorist attacks, Okaz reported yesterday quoting Muddathir Siddiqui, the lawyer representing the Saudi Embassy in Washington.
He disclosed the names of two Saudis released earlier as Hadi Afeefy and Khaled Bahman, but refused to give the names of two others who were set free on Tuesday. "Their names will be disclosed after their return to the Kingdom."
