RIYADH, 15 October — Saudi Arabia will never allow any individual or group to use the Kingdom as a base for terrorism or a launch pad to carry out random attacks on peaceful people living elsewhere, Interior Minister Prince Naif stated yesterday addressing the consultative Shoura Council. "Nor will we allow our country to be a source of, or a place to cultivate, such perverted individuals," he added.
Prince Naif, who was accompanied by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal, called for international cooperation to combat terrorism.
"International cooperation has become inevitable to contain terrorist acts, which do not differentiate between innocents and convicts," he said. Prince Naif highlighted Saudi Arabia’s efforts to combat terrorism.
"The Kingdom has been a target of terrorists over the past 20 years and we have made great efforts to contain it," he explained.
Saudi Arabia has signed anti-terror accords with Arab states and other countries.
"These agreements are aimed at hunting down terrorists, handing them over to face justice and exchanging information on known criminals," he said. The interior minister highlighted the big threat posed by terrorism. "No country in the world, be they the most advanced or most backward, can totally shield itself the destructive effects of terrorism," he pointed out.
In his address, Prince Saud Al-Faisal underlined the need for international cooperation to create a world free of terrorist acts.
