MADINAH, 19 October — Telephone subscribers in Madinah, one of the largest pilgrim centers in the world, are complaining about the difficulty in getting any service from the subscribers’ offices of Saudi Telecommunications because of the congestion and crowd in the office buildings. They attribute the problem to a lack of sufficient space in the offices, Okaz reported yesterday.
They are wondering why STC is undertaking ambitious projects to increase the number of lines and subscribers while apparently ignoring the situation in their own offices. The long queues in the office are an everyday occurrence, they complain.
Ridaa Muslim, a customer, said the overcrowding in the STC subscription offices is constant because there simply aren’t enough offices in the city."
He admitted that STC recently added more space to some of its offices, but cautioned " the number of subscribers they have to deal with is still far greater than their offices can cope with."
Kareem Al-Subhi, another subscriber, asked: "For how long will we have to push and shove people around in an uncivilized manner just to submit a query? If STC is serious about serving the people, it should find an immediate solution to the problem."
Car parking is another ordeal the visitors to these offices have to go through: the offices do not have an adjacent parking area.
