JEDDAH, 24 October — Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi will open the conference, “New opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s energy services industry”, and the first international exhibition for petroleum and gas services and industries on Nov. 5 at the Riyadh Inter.Continental Hotel.
In celebration of 20 years of the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd, the conference will open with a keynote session titled “The evolution of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry over the past twenty years”.
Al-Naimi will be joined by oil experts from the Kingdom and beyond, including Dr. Abul Aziz Al-Dukhayyel, rector of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals; Abdullah Juma, president of Saudi Aramco; Robert Mabro, director of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies; and Ian Seymour, editor emeritus of the Middle East Economic Survey.
The conference will continue for two days, with discussion focusing on strategies for the development of a national energy services industry in Saudi Arabia, and emerging opportunities for national and international companies in this sector.
The conference (accompanied by an exhibition) will highlight new opportunities for international investment in the services sector and encourage the creation of domestic energy services companies in Saudi Arabia.
In turn, the conference will provide an invaluable opportunity for international companies to demonstrate to the ministry directly the contribution they can make to the Saudi economy through investment, technology transfer and job creation. The ministry is encouraging companies to invest in power generation and water desalination projects, as well as oil and gas services.
