JEDDAH, 24 October — The Kingdom’s embassy in Moscow has yet to receive confirmation that a Saudi has been killed while fighting against Russian forces in Chechnya, the Saudi charge d’affaires in Moscow said on Monday. “The Saudi Embassy in Moscow has not received any information from official circles in Moscow about the death of a Saudi citizen Abu Omar Muhammad Al-Seif,” Munir Banjabi, told Arab News on telephone. Banjabi personally cast doubt on the validity of the report, saying: “Abu Omar’s death and arrest have been mentioned several times by the media during the past year.” He said the embassy had repeatedly asked the Russians about news on the alleged killing or arrest of Saudis in Chechnya, but has been given no answer.
