RIYADH, 22 November — Labor and Social Affairs Minister Dr. Ali Al-Namlah yesterday revealed a government plan to establish orphanages in all parts of the Kingdom, where there are presently nine orphanages.
There are also moves to establish a supreme authority to take care of orphans. The body will include businessmen, philanthropists and media persons.
“Charitable societies have come up with this idea and they can form the nucleus of such an authority,” Namlah pointed out.
The minister was talking to reporters after visiting the Social Education Center in Riyadh, where he attended an iftar party with orphans.
“Our duty is not only to provide orphans with food and clothing. We also extend to them our love and care, which is more important than anything else,” he added.
