VIENNA, 24 November — Dr. Thuraya Obeid, chairperson of the International Population Fund, an affiliate of the United Nations, discussed here yesterday with Sayyed Abdullah, director general of the OPEC Fund for International Development, the prospects of joint projects to be implemented by the two funds. Dr. Obeid also met with Austrian foreign minister and briefed her on the importance of the Western wealthy nations’ support to the fund’s programs aimed at improving the condition of the world population in general and in the poor countries in particular. Family killed on Makkah-Jizan road
RIYADH — Nine members of a Saudi family were killed when their car collided head-on with a jeep on the Makkah-Jizan coastal road, Okaz reported yesterday. The family comprised a father, mother, their six children and the father’s mother. Six passengers in the jeep were hospitalized for various injuries. The accident took place earlier this week near Qunfuda.
