JEDDAH, November 27 — A man in Turaif town suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his car while he was returning home in the afternoon causing the vehicle to ram into a tree, press reports said yesterday.

The man died while being rushed to the local hospital. He had undergone heart surgery at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Ahmad Al-Otaibi of the traffic department said plainclothes policemen in Makkah has registered 500 traffic light violations during the past three months.

The violations were recorded with the help of cameras installed at major traffic intersections and along highways. The offenders will be summoned to the traffic office and fined.

In Quinfuda, an entire family was wiped out in road accident on Sunday. A speeding van carrying a Saudi, his wife and seven children collided head-on with a jeep coming from the opposite direction. All nine died on the spot. The six passengers in the other vehicle were seriously injured and taken to the Qunfuda General hospital.
