JEDDAH, 6 December — The Islamic Development Bank said here yesterday that it secured a total of $980 million in commitments at the end of the first phase of its $1.5-billion infrastructure fund. The commitments were made by Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Bahrain, Malaysia, Dar Al-Mal Al-Islami (DMI) and the IDB, according to a bank statement. The Bahrain-based fund, which will commence business today, will remain open for another one year to receive more commitments to cover its target of $1.5 billion.
