JEDDAH, 7 December — Dr. Ahmad Al-Fowzy, assistant professor of urology at the University of Louisiana, has said that 77 percent of sex-related problems could be cured with medication already available on the market, including in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking to Arab News, Fowzy said the studies and research conducted by the Urology Institute in New Orleans, an affiliate of Louisiana University, have proved that temporary sexual impotence stops being a problem if its psychological causes are addressed and resolved.
"Moreover, a number of diseases related to urinary tracts, including prostate cancer, can be cured by surgery without any side effects that lead to impotency," he pointed out.
Delivering a lecture in Jeddah attended by doctors in Saudi hospitals, Fowzi said the bilharziasis disease, which is found in some Arab countries, might also cause impotence. Old age, high blood pressure, diabetics, mental depression, drug addiction and chain smoking and over use of medicine for urination are other major factors that cause impotency, he explained.
