JEDDAH, 9 December — Commerce Ministry officials arrested a 12-member group of Bangladeshi laborers who were running a workshop that produced imitation sportswear, according to an official at the ministry’s branch here.
In the raid, made in conjunction with the local police and the Passports Department following a tip-off, the ministry officials discovered that the group’s illegal activities involved production of T-shirts and other sportswear carrying the trademarks of some world famous brands, said Muhammad Al-Harby, director general of the ministry’s branch.

The police found that eight of the laborers carried valid iqamas which were issued in the name of different sponsors. Three of the laborers did not have any documents at all.
