JEDDAH, 7 January — An envelope from Russia that was feared to have contained anthrax found in a local Jeddah hotel has tested negative for anthrax. The hotel called the police and samples were taken to the Jeddah Regional Laboratory for tests. Since Sept. 11, more than 20 suspected anthrax cases have been tested at the laboratory. They all tested negative, and most of the powder was in fact flour. Sources told Arab News that most of the cases were the result of jokes between work colleagues and friends.
