JEDDAH, 18 January — The local chapter of Indian Doctors Engineers Architects and Accountants Society (IDEAS) is organizing a Gulf convention of non-resident Indians (NRIs) in Hyderabad in August, according to chapter’s PR in charge Sharief Aslam. He said AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had been invited to preside the opening and sessions that follow. NRIs’ issues including welfare measures, establishment of a separate ministry by all state governments, housing corporations and domicile status are among the topics for discussion.
The chapter held a "humor unlimited’ program and an "Eid milap" get-together recently. Participants included Khaja Anwar, Urdu poet G.M. Ahmed Khwamakha, Anwar Adeeb, Aleem Falki, Nayeemullah, Dr. Zia Siddiqui, Dr Iqbal Musani, Dr. Manyar Aijaz Khan and Sultan Maharuddin.
"Should Indian schools in Jeddah have parents management committees" is the subject for an ongoing opinion poll on www.ideas-gulf.com.
