JEDDAH, 19 January — As many as 193,595 Indonesian pilgrims will perform Haj this year. Saudi Arabian Airlines is bringing 85,000 of them and Garuda Indonesia the rest. Last year, 210,000 Indonesians performed the annual pilgrimage. Garuda will start bringing pilgrims from Jakarta on Monday — when it will operate 12 flights to the Haj Terminal, according to Hady Syahrean, the Indonesia national carrier’s general manager for Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. "We’ll be operating 10 to 12 Haj flights daily until Feb. 18," Syahrean told Arab News. Garuda will operate a total of 303 flights during the season. The pilgrims will be transported back to Jakarta in the return phase from Feb. 25 to March 18, he added. Pilgrims are also expected to arrive by Garuda’s regular flights.
