DAMMAM, 2 February — Three Saudis perished in two separate road accidents in Alkhobar and Khafji on Wednesday. Two of them died in an accident on the King Fahd Road in Alkhobar as their car overturned.
Police said speeding was the cause of the accident, as the driver lost control and the car hit a tree along the road before overturning.
Saudi Red Crescent volunteers said they had to ask for the help of Civil Defense personnel to take out the bodies from the car which had been reduced to a pile of iron. Witnesses said the two Saudis died on the spot.
In another accident that occurred in Khafji, a Saudi youth was killed and two others were injured. They were among a group of youngsters set out to celebrate Saudi team’s victory over Qatar in the Gulf Cup final in Riyadh on Wednesday.
Security sources said the youth died as he had kept his head out of the car while it was moving in high speed and later overturned. The injured were taken to the Aramco hospital. The sources said the youth died on way to the hospital.
