RIYADH — The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has signed an agreement with Technip Co. of Italy for designing and building an acetic acid plant based on technology developed by the research and development department of SABIC.
Speaking on this occasion, Mohammed H. Al-Mady, SABIC’s vice chairman and managing director, said the new plant will be built in SABIC’s Arabian Industrial Fibers Company Complex (Ibn Rushd) in the industrial city of Yanbu. It is anticipated that the plant will come on stream in the second quarter of 2004, with an annual production capacity 30,000 mt/y.
Al-Mady lauded the efforts of all SABIC employees especially those from R&D, who are working to improve the products and industrial applications in order to meet the market needs.
