AL-ASYAH, 23 March — A large number of weekenders from different regions of Qassim set out for short expeditions to enjoy the magnificence of Al-Asyah region, 80 kilometers northeast of Buraidah.
Al-Asyah has been transformed into a park, with vast green fields, thanks to the heavy rain that hit the region and nearby places during the past three weeks. During the weekend, the road to Al-Asyah was chockablock with traffic.
Among the famous attractions in the region are Mared’s Dam and Abalworood Natural Park in the north.
Al-Asyah Municipality has executed a number of projects to beautify Mared’s Dam and provide the best possible services to visitors.
Ibrahim Al-Mutairy, a visitor from Ar-Ras, said, “I cannot stay imprisoned indoors while such beauty is outdoors!”
Picnicker dies of snakebite: A Saudi family, who had gone for a picnic in a suburb of the summer resort city of Taif, lost its head on Thursday when a venomous snake bit him while he was sleeping in a tent, Al-Riyadh reported yesterday.
“After seeing how beautiful the place was, the family decided to erect a tent there for overnight stay. The mother woke up hearing her husband cry out in pain. Later, they found that a snake had bitten his neck,” the paper said. The man died in a nearby hospital.
