This headline has prompted a Palestinian poet to remind the Arab and Islamic world of the plight the Palestinians who are displaced and forced to wander. The Israeli Army regularly shoots the Palestinians, makes their children homeless, disgraces their women and kills their elderly. What could be more tragic? Can we imagine more barbaric happenings?
With all its power and leadership, the United States is unable — or perhaps unwilling — to use its influence to stop Israeli savageries. The government fears the Zionist lobby in America which would be displeased and so cause the president to lose an election and so oust him from power.
The United States deals with the world on two levels of what it calls justice. The first level is for Israelis; it is the highest and best and is for dispensing justice to the Jews. The second is for the rest of the world, including Arabs and especially the Palestinians. The Americans consider the Palestinians terrorists and justify murdering them when all the Palestinians are doing is defending their land, their honor, their families and their faith.
At the same time, the Israelis retaliate against them by killing unarmed Palestinians and destroying their homes and property. In doing so, they use American military machinery ruthlessly on the pretext of defending the Jews from terrorism.
Now is the moment more than any other before, for an international conscience, especially an Islamic conscience, to act to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.
At this point, I call upon rich Arabs to give full financial support to an organized media campaign in the West — especially in America. The objective of the campaign will be to inform the world what is actually happening in the Arab lands.
The initiative of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah tells the international community that we, Arabs, are advocates of a just peace based on international legitimacy and United Nations resolutions.
As for the war criminal, Sharon, however, I believe his days are numbered and his war machinery will be destroyed by the peoples resolve. In the Holy Qur’an, God Almighty says: “And God wants to establish truth.”
