JEDDAH, 9 April — A center for the protection of consumer rights has been established at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Abdul Latif Jameel Group.

“The center, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom, aims to look into consumer complaints about products offered by the private sector,” Majid Al-Qasabi, secretary-general of the JCCI, told a press conference on Sunday.

“The consumer will receive an acknowledgment of his complaint within three days,” Al-Qasbi added.

JCCI’s legal consultant has been designated the director of the center.

Ten officials will be dealing with queries and complaints submitted by telephone (6529255), fax (6529247) and email (customerservice @jcci.org.sa).

Complaints can also be deposited in boxes at airports, hospitals and supermarkets. The center will issue monthly reports on its activities.
