JEDDAH, 30 April — Vehicles from India’s Tata group will start making inroads into Saudi Arabia within a couple of weeks. This follows an agreement between a local automobile giant, Alhamrani Group of Companies and the Indian corporate leader.
Disclosing this in an exclusive interview with Arab News, Alhamrani Group of Companies Chief Operating Officer Siraj A. Alhamrani said that in the first phase buses and commercial vehicles would be made available in the Kingdom’s ever expanding car market. “In the second phase, maybe later this year, seven to nine Tata passenger car models will start coming in,” he added.
“We signed the agreement in Bombay on Feb. 5 that makes us the sole distributor of Tata vehicles in the Kingdom. We’ve started setting up showrooms and offices for the Tatas Kingdomwide under a newly formed company and management, and are looking forward to marketing them,” Alhamrani said.
“The new company, Alhamrani International Trade (Intertraders), will also expand into the information technology sector in which India, especially the Tatas, have taken rapid strides. We’ll also further expand this new relationship into other sectors like machinery and equipment,” he said.
