JEDDAH, 12 May — A delegation of visiting Indian naval survey ship “INS Darshak” had meetings with local officials of the Naval Base, Jeddah Islamic Port and Coastal Guard yesterday.
“The meetings were a courtesy call and yet productive and successful,” Ship Commander Capt. S.S. Karnik told a press conference at the Jeddah Trident Hotel.
Local officials evinced keen interest in the tasks undertaken by the “Darshak,” the eighth hydrographic survey vessel of the Indian Navy and the successor to the original “Darshak” of 1964 vintage, said Karnik, who was accompanied by Ambassador Talmiz Ahmed, Consul General Syed Akbaruddin and Col. Gurpal Singh Bal, defense attaché at the Embassy of India in Riyadh.
