Renting cars using fake IDs: Two Saudi youths recently disappeared with vehicles — a 2001 model Camry and 2002 model Cherokee Jeep — they had rented from Al-Raheeli company in Dammam. The two rented the cars after presenting fake identity cards and giving wrong addresses for the places of work. When the youths did not return the rented cars on the scheduled date, the company contacted the government departments where they worked to chase them up at the addresses the youths had provided. However, the departments got back to the company with the news that the two were not working with them.

Students locked up in classroom: Civil Defense officers had to be called to rescue 13 primary school students locked up inside their classroom in Madinah. The students were inside their classroom during the last period of the day, waiting for a teacher who did not turn up. The school official locked the door and left the building, without first checking to see whether there were any students still inside. Bahjat Junaid, director of education, expressed his concern over the incident, which showed “sheer negligence” on the part of the school authorities. Junaid called on the school director to investigate the incident.

Four years on, manhunt continues: Police in Dammam are still searching for a Saudi man whose car hit a compatriot in a traffic accident four years ago, causing the victim to be permanently handicapped. Car crushes father in front of son: A child saw his father die under the tires of a speeding taxicab on Shabra Road in Taif on Friday. The incident took place after the child had set out with his father to the local market. The taxi hit the man while he was crossing the road.

Expats held for brewing liquor: The Commission for Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice arrested two Asian workers for allegedly possessing liquor and pornographic videos in Neeriya. The expatriates had hidden 50 liters of the locally brewed liquor and 12 pornographic videos at an enclosure for sheep in the region.

Hospital guard’s assailants free on bail: Majma police have released on bail two expatriates who were arrested for allegedly attacking a security guard at King Khaled Hospital. The duo attacked the guard when the latter prevented them from entering the hospital’s housing compound without permission. The guard was injured in the attack.
