RIYADH, 24 May — A seminar on Saudi-Polish relations will be held here on Tuesday to mark the 70th anniversary of the historic visit by King Faisal to Poland in 1932 when he was the Kingdom’s minister of foreign affairs.
Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal will attend the event at the King Faisal Foundation headquarters, according to Poland’s Ambassador Krzysztof Plominski.
The symposium is co-sponsored by the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) and the Embassy of Poland.
The topics of presentation include “The effect of King Faisal’s international tours on his foreign policy” by Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shubaily, member of the Shoura Council; Impact of the visit of the late King Faisal to Poland in May 1932 on bilateral relations” by Professor Jerzy Zdanowski, director of the Center for Studies on Non-European Countries, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw.
Other lectures are on “Relations between Poland and Arab countries from a historical perspective” by Professor Janusz Danecki, head of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Oriental Institute, University of Warsaw; “The Kingdom’s relations with the Central and Eastern European countries” by Dr. Saleh Al-Khatlan, professor of Politics, King Saud University.
According to Ambassador Plominski, Poland’s relations with the rulers of the Arabian Peninsula date back to the beginning of the 20th century, when King Abdul Aziz received a Polish delegation in Jeddah on May 3-4, 1930. To commemorate the historic relations between the two countries, a symposium on this subject was held in Warsaw yesterday. A Saudi delegation led by Prince Turki ibn Faisal attended the event.
