JEDDAH, 27 May — The House of Artists, part of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare, has turned the corner with the induction of Saleh A. Bogary, an advertising and PR wizard, as its chairman.

“Our artists have been producing excellent work on canvas with brush and paint, but their worth is not fully appreciated both at home and abroad. They have never got the price they deserve because their marketability remained poor,” said Bogary, deputy managing director of Al-Khaleejiah Advertising & Public Relations Co.

“What we aim to do from now on is to expose the works of our artists to art lovers and critics both at home and abroad,” Bogary said at the opening of an art exhibition at Jamjoom Center on Saturday.

Bogary opened the exhibition in which 54 artists, the majority of them Saudi, have exhibited their works. The artists, including nine women, are all members of the House of Artists.

“The aim is to present artwork with originality and quality at a reasonable price,” said Bogary, who assumed the chairmanship of the board of House of Artists three weeks ago, succeeding Hisham A. Binjabi who was the chairman for over seven years.

The show will continue for two weeks.
