MADINAH, 29 May — More than 200 pilgrims, mostly women, escaped unhurt when the apartment complex where they were lodged was hit by a massive fire on Monday. The fire broke out from a kitchen in a flat of Dar Al-Aman residential building in Madinah’s Qurban district, Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. The occupants of the building were quickly evacuated. However, 14 people fainted as a result of smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital. One resident was injured after he jumped from the fifth floor in panic, the paper added.
