JEDDAH, 4 June — Car insurance will become mandatory on all motorists in the Kingdom from Nov. 20. The Public Security Department in association with the Traffic Department and insurance companies have completed studies on the principles and conditions of the cooperative insurance scheme to be applied to all drivers in the country. "No Saudi or expatriate will be allowed to drive without an insurance policy once the scheme is implemented," said Maj. Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani, director of police in the Makkah region. There are more than five million cars in the Kingdom.
