SANAA, 8 June — The Yemeni government signed a contract worth some $50 million last week with an international consortium to build a road linking Yemen to Gulf Cooperation Council states via Oman, the SABA news agency reported.
The contract, signed by the Public Works Ministry and a consortium of four firms, provides for the construction of a 174-km road linking Nashtun in the eastern province of Mahara to Sayhut on the border with Oman. The project will be carried out within three years.
