KARACHI, 19 June — Police arrested yesterday a notorious terrorist during a raid in Orangi Town on the outskirts of Karachi following the arrest of a Lashkar-e-Jhangvi activist in the morning. A senior police officer said that Akram Lahori, the terrorist, was involved in scores of killings and terrorist activities.
He is said to be one of the top aides of Riaz Basra who was killed by police in Lahore last month.
He was one of the four accomplices of Basra who had come to Karachi with plans to carry out terrorist acts in the city, police said.
Akram was wanted by the Sindh and Punjab police and carried a 5 million rupees bounty on his head.
Three Kalashnikovs and three pistols were recovered from his possession. Shabbir Ahmad of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi was arrested in Gulzar-e-Hijri in the morning and police acting on his tip-off arrested Akram.
